AFTER the recent drab draw against Switzerland at Wembley, I hope that the FA will soon appoint a new England manager.

Fabio Capello proved during last year’s World Cup that he is simply not the man for the job, and changes should have been made as soon as the squad landed back in the UK last summer.

Personally, I hope that Glen Johnson, Rio Ferdinand, Theo Walcott and Darren Bent never pull on the famous three lions shirt ever again, and that the likes of Micah Richards, Phil Jagielka, Adam Johnson and Peter Crouch take their places in the team.

Richards is a better defensive player than Johnson, Ferdinand has given up and Johnson and Crouch always play well for England while I think that Bent is nothing more than a one season wonder, like a number of centre forwards.

It’s also time that Frank Lampard became a squad member instead of a team regular, and I think that a central midfield pairing of Scott Parker and Steven Gerrard, who should be the captain in my humble opinion, could create better goal scoring opportunities for the strikers.

Who should take over from Capello? That’s easy to answer.

Stuart Pearce or the Darlington FC manager, Mark Cooper.

Christopher Wardell, Darlington.
