THE director general of the CBI, John Cridland, now feels that the boom which came before the recession masked deep structural problems that can’t be cured simply by economic growth.

Okay, so the Government, CBI, industry and the British press were so blinded by the money flowing through their pockets that they didn’t realise they were selling off people’s jobs to low wage economies to make extra profit for, well themselves mostly, as well as bankers.

The director general also notes that the North-South divide isn’t helped by putting all the work into London and the South-East.

Wow, I bet he went to university.

Shame he doesn’t read HAS.

But then, why would he? It’s from a region outside London and the South-East.

David Preston, Darlington.
