ARMY veterans are to train the jobless for work by instilling discipline and giving motivation exercises as part of the Government’s new work programme.

If this is the best Employment Minister Chris Grayling can come up we might as well all hang our boots up.

Installing routine, discipline and motivation is one thing but as “The Grand Old Duke of York” poem goes “He marched them up to the top of the hill and marched them down again” – this will do little to create jobs in a time when thousands are losing theirs.

Another tin pot idea dreamt up by a minister who thinks giving a private firm a £14,000 bonus for getting an unemployed person a minimum wage job of £11,000 is good maths.
