I OFTEN wonder if the BBC’s news is for the British public.
The recent Arab Spring in the Middle East has led the BBC to concentrate on this region, even neglecting Afghanistan and Libya where British forces are in active combat.
Even the news of suspected Ecoli cucumbers in Germany was given more priority than an oil refinery blast that killed four British people in Milford Haven, Wales.
I have visited the BBC web-site in hope of catching up with the latest British news.
I found I can read it in Spanish, Arabic, Persian, Russian, Azeri, Bangla, Burmese, Chinese, French, Hausa, Hindi, Indonesian, Kirundi, Nepali, Pashto, Portuguese, Sinhala, Somali, Swahili, Tamil, Turkish, Ukrainian, Urdu, Uzbek and Vietnamese.
Unknown to all these non- English speaking populations, the British public pay for their service through the licence fee.
BBC please give us a British service for British people – after all we are paying for it.
Brian Davison, Darlington.
