AS a person who has been involved in junior football, a holder of a level one FA coaching badge, and a member of the England supporters club, I am vehemently against proposals to prevent players being able to play football until the age of 13.
Having watched many seasons of youth football it is clear that mini-soccer does bring the undertens on but, after this age, the youths develop in different ways.
Some start to sprout in height, some develop muscle bulk, some become faster and, sadly, some who showed promise fade.
I appeal to those who will vote on the issue not to ruin youth soccer by implementing this proposal.
It is also imperative that youth league tables and scores are still recorded and published as this will drive youngsters on.
