IN REPLY to Dr Abdul Jaleel’s criticism of JM Gowland (HAS, May 24), I don’t think to question the ethics of giving so much aid to Pakistan are the words of a “little Englander”. Surely in times such as these, when everyone is suffering economically, we are within our rights to question why so much aid goes to other countries?
I honestly fail to see Dr Jaleel’s point of view. Cuts are being made to almost every part of our way of life.
Surely trimming billions from our foreign aid and diverting the funds to much-needed areas of England, whether for getting people back to work, the NHS, policing or the Armed Forces, would be more suitable?
Andy Wheeler, Darlington.
