REGARDING Darlington Borough Council’s decision not to cut grass on slopes of more than 25 degrees (Echo, May 9).

The article carried a photo of two councillors on the green at Middleton One Row complaining about the long grass.

Don’t they know we are in a recession and the days of using public money whenever they want are over?

The council did well to refuse to cut the bank because it is very steep and dangerous to cut.

With all the cutbacks, that money can be better spent on other, more important, services.

Instead of those two councillors posing for photos on the green, they should have taken a couple of lawnmowers with them.
