I AM a retired police officer.
A chief constable’s job is a position in public office.
Misconduct in a public office is a criminal offence.
How can Grahame Maxwell, the North Yorkshire chief constable, admit gross misconduct in public office and not be charged?
This man’s ability to enforce discipline in his force must surely be in doubt Alistair Watson, Glasgow.
HAS there ever been a more toothless paper tiger than the North Yorkshire Police Authority?
After completion of the recent investigation into the chief constable’s conduct, the authority should have been demanding his resignation with immediate effect.
What sort of example does the action of the chief constable set for those serving under his command.
I would suggest, not a very good one, or is it a case of do as I say, not as I do?
A final written warning is all very well, but as it only stays on the record for 18 months – what sort of punishment is that?.
Malcolm Neesam, Thirsk.
