PUTTING aside the moral rights or wrongs surrounding the assassination of Osma bin Laden, I really feel the need to comment on the subsequent vulgar and ostentatious display by the American public.
They have shown through their public gatherings, flag waving and chanting of infantile slogans that they, once again, are unworthy of the classification of a civilised society.
Their lack of dignity reflects a country with no heritage or breeding, used to failure internationally, and general incompetence in military affairs It is a great shame that they cannot accept the killing in a quiet and reflective nature.
They have shown the frenzy one usually associates with the zealots of the Islamic world, burning effigies, shoe-waving and other displays we frown on here in the West.
We in the UK would do well to distance ourselves from our “special relationship” and maintain a reserved and dignified stance in this matter, particularly when we still have forces actively engaged in against Islamic extremists.
