I WAS interested to read the item in The Northern Echo about Darlington Council’s new policy of refusing to cut the grass on slopes of more than 25 per cent (Echo, May 9).
A couple of years ago I was in Edinburgh and the grass was being cut in Princes Street Gardens, where the slope is considerably steeper than any of those in the Darlington area. .
The gardener was using a hover-type mower suspended on the end of a long, strong rope and was pulling it up and down the slopes.
Surely it would be possible for something similar in this case?
