YOUR recent article about the new regulations governing the sale and supply of herbal medicines (Echo, April 30) contained the astonishing suggestion that to avoid problems customers “should only buy online from reputable sources such as Boots or Lloyds Pharmacy”.
Your local independent high street health shop has far more knowledge and experience than high street pharmacies, while buying on-line without taking appropriate advice could be dangerous.
We stock a far wider range of herbal medicines than any pharmacy, all safe and effective and conforming to the latest legislation. Our huge computer database will show any interactions with prescription medication and any known side effects.
The new legislation mainly affects the more exotic Chinese and non-European herbs.
Purchasers of herbal remedies from independent health food shops can be assured that all products comply with the latest legislation. They are well researched and tested to be safe and effective. Furthermore, the high level of specialist training and experience available in your local health shop, and the time we are able to spend with our customers, means that you can buy with confidence.
