DONALD SIMPSON and John Gilmore (HAS, May 3) want to get their facts right regarding royalty.

How about the millions of people who went to London for the wedding? People from abroad watched it on television and there were quite a few street parties.

There are more people who love the royals than republicans.

We are the majority, you are the minority.

The Royal Family will not be done away with, ever.

ONE should allow a bride and groom the privilege of planning their own wedding.

They don’t need spiteful comments from folk who think they know better.

The trees in Westminster Abbey looked natural and beautiful – much more so than would masses of expensive blooms scattering their petals and leaving a mess to be cleared up. The trees would be returned to the place from where they came – Highgrove – a reminder in years to come of the nuptials of our future king and queen.

Recycling with no waste – how could anyone disapprove of that?

the ceremony, the crowd control and ample provision of toilets and other amenities for onlookers from all over the world, was superb. I couldn’t fault it.

The way the crowds were slowly and carefully guided towards the gates of Buckingham Palace (instead of an undisciplined mad dash) was a lesson to all nations. We can be proud of what was achieved on Friday, April 29.

With a monarchy our country is very stable – and in William, with his feet firmly on the ground and a wife who is “one of us”, the future looks very rosy after, at times, a somewhat shaky past.

Be glad for the newlyweds.

WILLIAM and Kate boasted of having a good old fashioned pot of tea when they arrived at Clarence House after their wedding.

It must have been made by a servant, then.

I wonder what it costs the taxpayer to employ people to brew tea for young royals?

Is Kate so lazy, she can’t switch a kettle on herself?

Why do we have to sit back and just accept this parasitic lifestyle?

It is a cheap shot, but I’d love to be a servant in Buckingham Palace and brew tea for the Queen with “used” leaves. Sorry Ma’am, the Earl Grey is a tad off today. I would be sacked.
