I WENT to a dance held for the charity Save the Children in Middlesbrough on Thursday, April 21.
It wasn’t very well organised and I was sad to find no raffle, only a bucket to put money into.
When I asked why, I was told “too much red tape”. How sad is that?
As the tickets didn’t say a time, for half an hour we had to put with a zumba class.
The price of drinks was high, some couples were sharing one “glass” (made out of plastic). A sad turn out.

I WONDER if I am the only pensioner who is bombarded with requests from the various charities that exist.
I am really fed up with them. I always return the literature (more cost to them) with a request that no more be sent to the addressee.
Do they heed this request?
Of course not. They still keep coming.
Well, enough is enough. I have threatened the main culprit (The Red Cross) that I would go to the press – hence this letter.
They have disregarded all my requests for no more so I do hope this letter will be printed and maybe a miracle can occur thanks to your newspaper.
I know times are hard, but I do shop in a lot of charity shops and contribute in my own way.
Please, please, Northern Echo print this letter and let’s stop the bombardment.
Pauline Saiger, Cassop.
