I FIRST became aware of the music of John Barry, who has died at the age of 77 (Echo, Feb 1), when his orchestra provided the accompaniment to an Adam Faith hit in 1960.
The record was What Do You Want? and such was the invention of the arrangement that DJ Alan Freeman said: “I rated this as John Barry’s hit”.
I also have a liking for the music Barry wrote to the 1966 film comedy, The Wrong Box.
