THROUGH no fault of his own, my son is confined to a wheelchair. He cannot walk after complications suffered as the result of an operation.
He wants to return to work, owns an automatic car and has no problems driving.
However, he needs someone to take his wheelchair out of his car’s boot on a morning and put it back in at night.
The company he works for is willing to have him back but have informed him that there is no one “trained to lift a wheelchair out of the car boot”.
As a result my son is denied the chance to work and will have to live on benefits.
C Barron, Stockton.
