IF my local authority is really interested in saving money could I please apply for a job?
Driving around the area, I note traffic lights and more crossing points for pedestrians at the entrance from Wolviston Road into Billingham Town Centre.
This could have been achieved with white paint and a road sign or two, by making the current road layout into a full roundabout.
The arrangement for peak flow traffic on the access from the A1079 onto the A19, where a third lane forms, could have been done by forcing the joining traffic into one access lane, double white lines for 200 metres to allow joining traffic to get up to speed, and surveillance cameras with enforcement.
Seems simple to me, but then I only spend my working life on the road, what would I know?
Dennis Clark, Billingham.
