WHAT kind of a country do we live in?
Lawyers are queuing up to represent all sorts of “celebrities” who think their phone may have been tapped.
At the same time, no one appears bothered that Tony Blair lied through his teeth, misleading Parliament and the population at large when he said of weapons of mass destruction held by Iraq: “I have seen the evidence and it is credible.”
It was this statement made by “trust me, I am Tony” that persuaded most of Parliament and, I believe, most of the population who supported the invasion of Iraq, to lend support to what now appears to have been his personal crusade.
From evidence now before the Iraq inquiry, it is absolutely clear this man had no intention other than waging war, irrespective of the cost.
How much longer are we to allow him to evade his responsibility? And why are we bearing the ongoing cost of his security when he now seems hell bent on warmongering against Iran? Isn’t he supposed to be the UN peace envoy to the Middle East?
