SO, VJ Connor (HAS, Jan 19) is keen to toe the Labour Party line about the demise of The National Bullying Helpline.
Founder Mrs Christine Pratt (who has resigned due to illhealth) revealed the bullying in Downing Street in response to a statement from Peter Mandelson that completely denied any bullying had ever taken place.
She did not name the people who had been bullied, so no confidences were betrayed.
However, openness (something I believe strongly in) was promoted by giving us a truer picture of the then-Prime Minister and his inner circle.
The charity, founded in 2007, provided an invaluable free service to the public.
In 2010, calls to the charity trebled and it had to take on additional volunteers to meet demand.
Without doubt, this demonstrates that a free antibullying helpline is much needed and valued by the public, both adults and children alike.
You can help the charity by joining the auction for a pair of boots donated by England footballer Frank Lampard.
Bidding will start at £300.
You can email your bid to info@nationalbullyinghelpline.
co.uk. Remember to please include a two sentence statement beginning: “I believe we need The National Bullying Helpline because...”
The helpline is well worth saving.
