IN Saturday’s HAS three correspondents poured scorn on the arguments regarding climate change.

None addressed my original question, namely why would thousands of eminent scientists, having spent many years studying the subject, decide collectively to concoct a scenario by distortion and fraud, that the earth’s climate is changing and we should do something to mitigate its effects.

What’s in it for them?

I would suggest very little.

They will not be involved in building power stations or wave or wind generators.

However, if global warming were a lie their reputations and their careers will be ruined.

E Saunders suggests some books to read. There are probably ten times as many books suggesting global warming is occurring, written by experts in their fields.

One can find books proving that the moon landings were faked, that the Bush administration organised the 9/11 attack or that the earth is only 5,000 years old. It’s as well to inquire about the author before accepting the text as gospel.
