HAS any political party ever made a bigger blunder than Labour has by appointing Alan Johnson as Shadow Chancellor?

I’ve just watched a television interview conducted by Dermot Murnaghan where this hapless but very nice man was unable to verify his party’s policy on their planned increase in employers National Insurance – a keystone of Labour’s pre-election economic policy.

Mr Johnson is a fish out of water who needs to be relieved of his job quickly.

Ed Balls may be tainted by his association with the previous Prime Minister – whose name I cannot bear to repeat – but at least he would be able to handle the brief competently.
