I WISH to voice my serious concern about the long-term impact cuts to social care funding could have on disabled people in my area.
Due to a £3bn funding shortfall, home help for the elderly and disabled is being dismantled.
My priority has always been care of people and it is obvious the Government does not truly appreciate the consequences of these cruel cuts.
The leading experts in the field insist a three per cent increase is required in social care funding, not a decrease.
Richard Hawkes, chief executive of Scope, said recently: “This decision creates a huge funding shortfall for councils and the obvious consequence is disabled people being denied vital social care services essential to them.”
Once again we see money being put before people in the race to make savings required by Government.
Brian Wilson, Thornley.
