I WAS interested in Peter Barron’s From the Editor’s Chair column of December 20 praising paper deliverers.
My experience is very different.
I have enjoyed reading The Northern Echo for many years and used to have it delivered.
Unfortunately, I have had to cancel as during the heavy snowfall in December I spent time and money on the phone trying to find out if I was going to receive my paper.
On the last day of that particular week I was informed that because of the snow they were unable to deliver.
I do not live in an isolated place. Whatever happened to commitment to customers? The delivery person comes in a car and is not a young boy/girl on a bike.
I now read The Northern Echo occasionally which is disappointing as I regard it as an excellent newspaper.
When you are reviewing circulation figures, please take into account newsagents who are not committed to providing the excellent service of old.
