I HAVE recently considered booking a flight with Jet2 from Leeds Bradford, attracted by the offer of an outward flight for £5.99 and a return of £9.99.

I am a realist and know the days of silly flight prices have gone. So I expected a few charges on top of these prices But I wasn’t prepared for the way unavoidable extras are added all the way through the booking system.

The cost soared from £63.92 for four people to a scarcely believable £460.

To be charged for an online check-in, when you have no choice, then to be charged a booking fee by the company you are booking with, becomes annoying. These unavoidable charges should be on the original price.

Each “budget” airline treats pricing differently. I feel they should all be forced to show a price that includes all the costs up front so the price you see is the price you pay.
