THE suggestion by Charles Johnson (HAS, Dec 27) that the Coalition has a “mandate to govern” made me wonder if he was still suffering from the seasonal excesses, or whether he had been brainwashed to believe the spin put out by his affluent party leaders.
The Lib Dems gained fewer seats than they expected and far fewer than they hoped for.
It seems that the only reason that they have any form of “say”
in the policies of our country is because they have sold themselves, and their beliefs and policies, in order to buy a few fairly senior posts in the Government.
How can they be taken seriously in the future?
Little wonder that so many of their members are disillusioned and leaving in droves.
A coalition with a mandate to govern? I really don’t think so.
A minority Tory government abetted by mercenaries, more like.
James Banks, Hett.
