SINCE the coalition Government was elected – just – we have heard ad nauseam that “we are all in this together”. Fat chance.
The London Olympics is reckoned to cost more than £1bn.
In nearly all events we are dishing out taxpayers’ money to those who have no hope of a medal. Isn’t it time funding was withdrawn from those who are only there for a good time at taxpayers’ expense.
Surely we could study the performances of past bronze medal winners and if our people are nowhere near this standard, then they should lose funding.
Our medal haul may not be greater, but we would save millions by only having a reduced squad.
Also, I see no evidence of huge city bonuses coming down or bankers giving savers a fair deal.
“We are all in this together” is a huge con.
