IN a question to the Prime Minister, Darlington Labour MP Jenny Chapman totally misrepresented the efforts of the private sector to create employment in the North-East.
By asking David Cameron to name three businesses creating jobs in the region she fell to the pressures of party politics rather than promoting the positive developments taking place in the private sector.
If Mrs Chapman read local papers she would notice the business sections reporting a private sector recovery in the North-East. Since September 1, local papers have reported 5,553 new jobs announced; £414.8m new investment actioned and £570.4m of new orders reported.
Asking the PM to name three firms was too limited; I have counted 32 firms. Mrs Chapman, it really is time to drop the Miliband socialism – it doesn’t work in the North.
