ONE hears much about feckless youth these days – but it isn’t so.

I saw a young woman in Darlington town centre on Tuesday operating a mobile phone, smoking a cigarette and guiding a pushchair with an infant in it while simultaneously and forcefully instructing the child to refrain from attempting to smear the contents of the pasty it held over the trousers of a passing man.

Who says that the young cannot multitask?

Chris Greenwell, Darlington.
