HOLLYWOOD star Tony Curtis, who has died at the age of 85 (Echo, Oct 1), was an actor I had always admired.
It was while we were on a day trip to Scarborough in the summer of 1959 that my mother, father, sister and I escaped the inclement weather and went to the cinema.
The theatre was packed and the film was Some Like It Hot with Tony Curtis, Jack Lemmon and Marilyn Monroe, but my father was able to point out to me one of the film’s other stars and that was comedian Joe E Brown in the role of Osgood.
It was a lovely family experience, and what a performance from Curtis.
