I WAS totally disgusted after reading about a 25-year-old unemployed man reportedly having fathered eight children with eight women, with two more children said to be on the way (Echo, Sept 21), resulting in a potentially massive benefits bill while allegedly only paying £5 a week from his Incapacity Benefit towards his children’s upbringing.

It seems Keith Macdonald, of Washington, Wearside, can’t be so incapacitated while he’s producing so many children.

I couldn’t help comparing this report with another (Echo, Sept 23) about a terminal cancer sufferer, 86-year-old Second World War RAF veteran and former prisoner-of-war Bernard Warren, who has only two months to live, being denied NHS nursing care in the Bristol area because he is “not ill enough”.

Have you ever heard such rot?

Mr Warren cannot be nursed any longer by his wife because of his failing health so he certainly needs professional nursing care in a care home.

Goodness me, this gentleman fought for us, so that we may live. Let’s hope his case is soon resolved and also that Mr Macdonald gets working.
