I WOULD like to back James Middleton’s letter about the proposed coal storage facility at Wolsingham (HAS, March 1).

I knew about Durham County Council having a share in the Weardale Railway, which I didn’t mind for tourism, but not for freight, especially when it will be only six feet from my back gate.

With lorries possibly operating from 7am to 7pm, Monday to Friday, and 7am to 1pm on Saturday that means we will have one day of peace and quiet each week.

It doesn’t make sense to me and if they are allowed to get away with it, they can get away with anything.

Stan Gibbon, Wolsingham, Co Durham.
