ALL Lords, MPs and government employees of whatever flavour must be fully domiciled in the UK for tax purposes.

Have our politicians really forgotten so soon? Our “honourable” representatives, guilty of all kinds of moral failure over expenses, assuming the moral high ground and queuing up to accuse Lord Ashcroft of unpatriotic behaviour, led by of all people the arch-hypocrite Lord Mandelson.

Am I correct in recalling that as an EU Commissioner he swore an oath to put EU interests before all others and to actively pursue those interests in all that he does?

Am I also correct in thinking this obligation extends to his time as an EU pensioner and that he forfeits such pension if he is in breach of that obligation?

How can he swear the oath of allegiance required on joining the Lords and undertake duties in a UK government where I assume his first loyalty should be to the British people and their interests?

Can I also assume that he, along with all other UK recipients of tax-free monies from the EU and now in the pay of the UK government, will declare these overseas earnings to tax in the UK?
