IN the light of Robert Meggs’ frequently expressed hostility to Christianity, in particular the Catholic Church and his “perceived” notion of its attitude to women, I wish to make him an offer which he should not refuse, if only for the sake of increased awareness and understanding.
I will introduce him to two (more if he wants) very powerful ladies at the top of their trade in the Church’s mission; both are working nuns from ordinary backgrounds, one a headteacher, the other a typical parish administrator who, like many others today play an important and essential role in the Church’s work by “running” the local parish.
I might add at this point that tea-making, cleaning, flowers and hymn books, etc, are handled by men and women – no problem.
These ladies will “update” Mr Meggs about the “actual” and increasing role of women in the Church today.
Michael Baldasera, Darlington.
