I WAS angered to see that an insidious, racist comment had crept into Harry Mead’s recent column (Echo, Jan 6).

He wrote (referring to the Ladybird series of books, People at Work): “And, as throughout the series, non-white faces are conspicuous by their absence.

All seems well-ordered, secure, comfortable. An illusion? You decide.”

Subliminal racism feeds the minds of those who would have us believe that whites are superior, and that anyone else has no place in Britain.

Shame on you Harry Mead.

Shame on The Northern Echo for allowing it.
