I DO like the snow, but after three weeks of snowflakes covering the ground and icy roads and paths I wish it would get warmer and that the thaw would start.
Having the snow for Christmas was lovely, but when I see elderly citizens and women with pushchairs struggling in the streets, it does make me wish it would melt so we can all return to normality.
Schools have been closed, the transport system has been affected and some folks have injured themselves.
My usually reliable car has been unable to start due to the wintry conditions on a few occasions, and if it was not for the help of one of my neighbours, Marty Rose, then my family would have been stuck indoors.
I have not known conditions like this before. Is it just a freak cold spell or global warming?
Either way, I wish the snowmen would disappear.
Christopher Wardell, Darlington.
