I WAS aghast to see the BBC’s Antiques Roadshow last Sunday being held in Lincoln Cathedral.
The people who take their “antiques” have probably had them valued elsewhere and are only seeking a second opinion.
Though I do not believe in the dogma of the Christian religion, I do subscribe to the finest teachings of this, one of many contemporary religions.
For sheer sacrilege, to hold such a mercenary occasion in a cathedral takes some beating.
Our cathedrals and those around the world are spiritual outposts in an increasingly secular society. Shame on the BBC and those who despoiled this wonderful edifice.
The story of Jesus casting the moneylenders out of the temple surely brings a distasteful resonance to Christians who see a cathedral as a place of worship.
