PETER Luff, Conservative MP for Mid Worcestshire, will present a Private Member’s Bill to the House of Commons on Tuesday, November 3, aimed at imposing a minimum distance between wind turbines and residential property.
I feel this issue to be of crucial importance in trying to prevent industrial-sized turbines being erected close to people’s homes.
A 2km exclusion zone would at least offer some protection from intrusive noise, shadow flicker and immediate visual impact.
Bolam, the village near Darlington where I live, is currently threatened with up to seven 125-metre wind turbines, approximately 450 metres away.
Should planning permission be granted, the resulting impact on the village will be disastrous.
Therefore, the proposed Bill would at least afford some protection should it be passed.
Kathy Pagella, Bolam, Darlington.
