THE Editor’s column (Echo October 19) regarding an assistant in McDonald’s not knowing the difference between half a dozen and six reminded me of my experience in a well known coffee shop at the Bridges, in Sunderland.
I asked for a decaffeinated cappuccino and was informed they didn’t do them, but I could have a decaff!
A friend went into the city centre post office and asked for 30 second-class stamps and was informed they only sold stamps in books of 12 and 6. So he asked for 2x12 plus 6.
You couldn’t make it up.
