I WOULD like to congratulate Mike Amos on his recent excellent At Your Service column, headed “Leon’s share”, following his visit to St John’s Church, Darlington (Echo, Oct 10).
I well remember June 28, 1941, when I was married at St John’s by the Reverend JG Stephens. The church that day was very cold and bare with no choir, no organist and only 25 guests. What a difference today.
