GEOFF Carr tries to persuade us of the talents and art of Tracey Emin (HAS, Oct 13). Considering her famous work, My Bed, could he explain why it is more a work of art than my unmade bed or his own? Is the fact that only Ms Emin’s bed is littered with used condoms of any importance?
Who could tell the difference between the unmade beds, if they had no prior knowledge of that which was the supposed work of art.
I am sure anyone would be able to tell the difference between Rembrandt’s The Night Watch and my version. Why does modern art so rarely seem to need artistic skill? All one needs is the nerve to claim it as art.
