WHATEVER happened to retaining regional products and regional production?
Apparently it counts for nothing, now that we hear that Newcastle Brown Ale production is to be moved from Gateshead to Tadcaster, North Yorkshire.
This is an absolute disgrace – Newcastle Brown Ale brewed in Yorkshire. It was bad enough when production was switched from Newcastle across the Tyne to the Federation Brewery at Gateshead.
Now it appears we are going to have the world’s most famous beer cobbled together by Southerners, we may as well scrap the brand all together.
If it’s not even going to be brewed close to Newcastle – how can it be called Newcastle Brown Ale?
