RE Peter Freitag’s comments about “British Eurosceptics”
trying to engineer a “No” in the recent re-run Irish vote on the Lisbon Treaty (HAS, Oct 12). I would ask him how many countries that voted “Yes” have had a second vote to see if they have changed their minds? None.
It was disgraceful that the Irish were asked to vote again because the “No” vote did not fit in with the master plan. Where is democracy in all this?
Perhaps Mr Freitag would like a United States of Europe with Tony Blair as its President. God help us, I would sooner become the next state of the US.
