VISITED Durham on Saturday, sat in the Market Place, all the seats were full, all the steps of the statue were full of youngsters and there was a lovely atmosphere.
Durham is a historic city, people come from all over the world to see the cathedral and the history of Durham is a special thing. Why do the unelected members of Durham City Vision need to change anything? Who gives them the right to mess up our county town?
If these people want a modern area to have outdoor activities then why not use the area outside the Gala Theatre?
The area needing their attention is North Road. I was disgusted at the dirty, unprepossessing street it has become. There will be no accolades for Durham as long as there are streets like this. The historic Market Place should stay as it is. In fact, bring back the police box.
