RE your letter from Christine Armstrong (nee Graham) about Girl Guides (HAS, Oct 2). Girl Guiding is celebrating its centenary so it is good to know that Christine’s memories of the happy times spent in the 1st Close House Guide Company, who met at South Church, near Bishop Auckland, have stayed with her for more than 50 years.
As her Guide Captain then, I too have fond memories of our good times together, and remember Christine and her family. I still enjoy Guiding, as a member of Trefoil Guild which is for ex-Guides and, fortunately, has no upper age limit.
Mrs Vera Barber, Bishop Auckland.
