I AM writing to applaud the actions of Spennymoor Town Council in banning Tudhoe United football club from using changing rooms at Tudhoe Community Centre (Echo, June 17) because it was claimed the facilities were regularly left dirty and untidy.
I wish Hartlepool Borough Council could take action against some of the so-called sportsmen who use our recreation grounds.
Myself and usually about six other ladies walk our dogs and have a friendly sociable hour on Rift House recreation ground, Hartlepool, every morning. On Sunday mornings, during the Sunday League football season, we must be out three-quarters of an hour earlier. If not, we must listen to the obscene filth which comes from the players’ mouths and also witness them urinating on the edge of the field.
Don’t get me wrong, there are probably lots of well brought up young men among them, but the culprits have no self-respect and definitely no respect for anyone else.
Mrs J Scott, Hartlepool.
