ALTHOUGH we are living through some very difficult and trying times, it does one’s heart the power of good when you see someone who still thinks of others less fortunate than ourselves.
The Cooperative Funeralcare, in Shildon, County Durham, has remained consistent in its efforts to raise funds for various charities, usually with a local link where possible, and even now the events continue.
These coffee mornings have become quite a meeting place for people, and as well as helping to raise funds, it has helped to dispel a lot of myths concerning a funeral home.
Without doubt, the woman who, along with her helpers (volunteers), gets these events organised puts in a lot of hard work, and always makes everyone welcome.
So this is a big thank-you to Barbara Bates and her helpers for all they have achieved, and also to the Coop for having such a lovely member of staff in Shildon, who represents them in the best possible way.
Fran Willows, Shildon, Co Durham.
