I ATTENDED the Gala Theatre, Durham, on Monday night to see my nephew perform alongside other students from New College Durham in a music show called Acceptable in the 80s.

They performed many songs that were hits from the Eighties and, as a now 40-something, it was a pleasure to be allowed to step back in time and relive many happy nights out when these songs were popular in pubs and clubs.

In these times of doom and gloom it was an honour to be able to see so many talented young people perform and they put on a fantastic show and lifted the packed audience’s spirits.

To be able to present the show in such a professional manner at this young age is a testament not only to their dedication and musical skills, but also to the hard work that the college staff must have put in over many months.

So, thank you to all involved for a memorable night and New College should be proud to be nurturing such talented young people.
