I REFER to your article about MPs’ expenses and more particularly the headline, “Expenses scandal: two more victims” (Echo, May 29). Please do not describe these dishonourable people as “victims”. They are not “victims”.
Along with many, many others, I am fed up with this group of greedy, self-serving public servants. They seem to think that by apologising and agreeing to pay back their ill-gotten gains the public will forgive and forget.
This matter rages on and on and while we may reach the point where we become anaesthetised by it all, I believe that MPs should be subject to the same rules and laws as everyone else.
Furthermore, those who work in the Fees Office do not appear to have been diligent with their checking of MPs’ claims, allowing this debacle to continue.
How dare they treat the electorate with such contempt.
Mrs K McKerrell, Newton Aycliffe, Co Durham.
