IN the Eighties, it was the will of the British public which stopped starvation in Ethiopia. This gave birth to what became termed “people power”, an idea which spread to other countries helping to bring down the Berlin Wall, brick by brick, leading to more enlightened views, creating a decade in which the majority of people around the world were driven by the idea of creating a world without war, hunger, poverty, hate and persecution.
Recent scandal over the banking system, MPs’ expenses, etc, is forcing reforms. These reforms aren’t driven by political ideology, but by politicians having to yield to the will of the people.
If more people realised their power, started getting involved in politics, then not only could we together as a nation start fixing what’s wrong, but once again the actions of the British public could be the catalyst for the return of people power and people worldwide returning to the vision of creating a better world for everyone.
