RE Mike Amos’ John North column story about the death of 93-year-old Dr Bill Shuttleworth, who was GP at Witton Park, County Durham, until retiring to West Burton, Wensleydale.
I was sorry to hear he had died, although – as he would say himself – he had a good innings.
Dr Shuttleworth was our family GP and was very fond of telling the tale of two sisters who went into labour together. Along with the district nurse, he went between both houses until my cousin and myself were safely delivered.
A GP of the old school, indeed.
