RE your news brief about Sadiq Khan, the Government minister responsible for community cohesion, becoming the first Western minister to make an official pilgrimage to Mecca, Islam’s holiest site, in Saudi Arabia (Echo, May 19).
As a Christian, I have also been to Mecca during Ramadan. Why? Well, at that time I was an instructor to the King’s Fire Brigade and we went to put out a fire in the power station at Mecca.
